Matthew Baker has been involved in the stockbroking and investment markets for 20 years holding various positions from advisory, general manager and owner. Matthew also established Baker Young’s Darwin branch office in 2003 where he is still a resident and is a regular guest on Territory FM discussing markets and the economy.
Matthew has a Mechanical Engineering degree, a Masters of Business Administration, is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and is an Affiliate of the Australian Stock Exchange.
Matthew has re-joined Baker Young after spending 3 years as a Business Advisor for the Commonwealth Government, focusing on the development of businesses in Northern Australia. His role was to identify the strengths, weaknesses and opportunities of small and medium-sized businesses and then outline strategies for them to improve their efficiency and grow. This is a core skill he is now applying to identifying opportunities in the investment markets.
Matthew also lectures in Darwin about share investment and is the founder and Chairman of Friends of the Tanimbars, a not-for-profit focussed on improving health, education and economic development of a very remote group of islands in southeast Indonesia.
